FEATURE IAOM MEA District Conference & Expo I n order to offer more exposure for exhibitors, this year's International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) Mideast & Africa District Conference & Expo will be held within the same hall. Coffee breaks and meals will also be in the same hall for the event, which is Oct. 31-Nov. 3 at the Sheikh Maktoum Hall of the Dubai World Trade Center, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. "The hall will be transformed into a ConfEx venue combining conference, expo and lunch halls facilitating interaction among delegates, exhibitors and visitors," said Essa Al Ghurair, conference chairman. "IAOM MEA will once again strive to bring more millers from the region, adding to the value of the association's goals." A main objective for this year is to attract more millers, particularly from sub-Saharan Africa, said Ali Habaj, IAOM MEA district director. The association has made progress since its conference in Tunisia and South Africa in 2013 and 2014, respectively, he said. "Our membership from Africa has increased by 70% just in the last two years," Habaj said. "We plan to further strengthen our regional outreach by organizing regional forums in countries like Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, which will focus on the most pressing and more relevant milling trends and topics in those countries."
