El Dorado Hills Chamber Directory - (Page 16) Emergency Services l Dorado Hills Fire Department was formed in 1963 to protect approximately 10,500 acres and about 90 homes. The Department now covers a district with more than 30,000 acres and 12,000 homes, giving the Department an estimated population of 35,000 residents to serve and protect. The Department moved into a new headquarters (Station 85) at 1050 Wilson Boulevard in January 2005. The 25,000 square foot building was designed as a “50 year” facility and houses station staff as well as the administrative offices. El Dorado Hills Fire Chief, Brian Veerkamp, assumed the position of Fire Chief in June 2007. He is pleased to have announced the January 2008 opening of the fourth station, Station 87, which will ultimately include a state-of-the-art regional training facility for its own use and will be available to other fire departments and agencies throughout the area. This new station will serve the Business Park, the businesses and residences south of Highway 50 and will help cover the rest of the district and other mutual aid agencies as needed. The Department is strongly connected to the community. Its motto, “Your Safety, Our Commitment” is exemplified in the many services provided to El Dorado Hills residents including CPR training, the Buckle Up Baby car seat inspection program, a life vest loaner program, the annual Santa Run which helps collect toys for Toys for Tots and provide food items to needy families, and a Bike Rodeo that promotes bicycle safety.
