They manifest their fourwheeled passion in different ways – as dealers, as collectors, as racers, to name a few. Such is the case with three South Bay gentlemen, each with their own unique relationship to the automobile. Parnelli Jones is a legend in car racing. Best known for his 1963 Indianapolis 500 win, he is also a member of the Off-road Motorsports Hall of Fame, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, the S THREE FOR THE ROAD National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America and the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame. A successful businessman himself, he owned Parnelli Jones Inc., and operated 47 retail Parnelli Jones Tire Centers in four states. Parnelli grew up in Torrance and currently lives in Palos Verdes. Mike Sullivan is the President and Owner the LAcarGUY family of dealers (lacarguy.com) which comprises seven leading Southern California dealerships including Pacific Porsche and Pacific Audi in Torrance and Santa Monica Lexus. Mike lives in Manhattan Beach. Dave Parker is Founder and Vice Chairman of Pelican Products, a company that produces more plastic products for government agencies than any other. He is also a prodigious collector of cars with an awe-inspiring personal collection housed at Dave’s Garage (daves-garage. com) in Torrance. Dave lives in Palos Verdes.
