The master suite, located just to the left of the foyer on the second floor, feels much like a separate residence. The private hallway leading to the bedroom features built-in cabinetry made of exotic Wenge wood from Africa and an antique, hand-hewn mirror from Berbere Imports. On the left is Jim’s office and dressing room – an innovative space featuring an ocean view in which he is able to dress, check his email and watch the news. To the right of the suite’s entry hallway is Jenny’s own bathroom and dressing area. The sliding mahogany door that leads to the master suite is soundproof and was intended to enable an enveloping sense of privacy. The custom wooden canopy over the bed offers a soft ambient glow at night via an array of hidden lights. An antique architectural piece imported from Bali graces the fireplace in the master bath, which features an overhead “rain” shower from Germany that displays a light show as it fills the 250-gallon Jacuzzi tub in less than seven minutes. Adjacent to the tub is a shower complete with a steam room option, as well as a master vanity “trough” style walnut slab sink beneath a mirror that contains a plasma screen television. The faucets in this space are from Kohler, while the sconces are from Warisan. Brown is quick to point out that the home’s design offers numerous possibilities for entertaining, from intimate dinner parties to very large gatherings. In addition to the guest rooms, flexibility in regards to overnight houseguests is provided by a hidden trundle bed in the media library, a plush chenille sectional that can convert to beds in the screening room and a Murphy bed in the gym.
