Over-controlling brides can stifle the photographer’s ability to capture wedding day personality and newly anointed joy. But there are a few things you can do in advance to make sure your photographer knows what you expect. • Put together a list of the people that need to be in each posed shot before the big day. You should also appoint someone from each family to work as a “gatherer” to get all the relatives where they need to be. • Let the photographer know who he/she should be taking direction from at the wedding. (You know the saying, “too many cooks…”) • Let the photographer know if you want candid pictures of everyone at the reception, or just family and members of the wedding party. • Clearly state photos you do not want — both posed and candid. For instance, you don’t need 100 shots of the cute kids on the dance floor…or do you? Most modern wedding photography is about candid moments. But posed family shots can include: o Bride and groom o Bride and maid of honor o Bride and bridesmaids o Groom and best man o Groom and groomsmen o Ringbearer and flower girl o Entire wedding party o Bride and groom with bride’s parents o Bride and groom with bride’s family o Bride and groom with groom’s parents o Bride and groom with groom’s family o Bride and groom with both sets of parents 44 http://www.victorphoto.com
