Ç| ÅtÇtzx à xÅáxÄäxáA Ê — Alexander Clark Out with the old, in
with the new. That’s my mantra this time of year. Yes, I play heavily
into the “spring cleaning” thing. I’m not obsessive by any means. I
just enjoy a clean slate, a fresh start, a new beginning…you know,
spring. I start with the closet – first packing away sweaters to make
room for a new season of fashion purchases. Then I fold up the flannel
sheets and hit the specialty stores in search of a new duvet cover and
bedding set. Eventually I make my way to b a c k y a rd and begin the
necessary arrangements for summer landscaping and warm weather
entertaining, i.e. that new barbeque I’ve been eyeing. Finally, it’s
off to the garage where I consider upgrading my 2006 model for this
year’s version…OK, I’m not that extreme, but the thought always
crosses my mind. Spring is also when I start gearing up for summer,
getting active and getting outdoors. I can’t wait to lace up the running
shoes and take a jog around the gardens in Capitol Park or hit the road for
an afternoon tasting at one of my favorite local wineries. How do you
jumpstart the season? Maybe you begin with upgrades at home, or perhaps
you go the other route and book a needed getaway out of town. In our
current issue, we explore the possibilities, like a complete kitchen
renovation and weekend escape at one of Arizona’s celebrated golf
courses and spas. We also found some fashion-forward accessories,
colorful, decorative glass art and great wines to start things off right.
In the spirit of growth and new starts, we’re also introducing a few
features we hope to make permanent additions to Sierrastyle’s Luxury
Living. First, we sat d o w n with John Packowiski, a Sacramento resident
and the marketing principal partner at PHA Architects, to chat about what
luxury means to him. Expect more conversations like this with other
notable Sacramentans in issues to come. Then we’ve added images of our
favorite people…you, enjoying the best our area has to offer. Finally,
we explore wonderful opportunities for second homes, not only as real
estate investments but great places to vacation year after year. Spring
cleaning may be hard work, but it’s also a lot of fun. Don’t forget to
