Science at Work
This spring, the hope of higher productivity is causing a renewed burst
of energy to race through agriculture’s veins. At Syngenta, we’re dedicated
to turning that hope into reality through our service and technologies—all
of which depend on sound science, stewardship, regulatory compliance
as well as strength of will and commitment. We understand that our focus
in the lab can lead to your success in the field.
Our track record to date is solid. Since our formation in 2000, more than
5,000 Syngenta scientists have contributed to the discovery, development
and registration of hundreds of new
herbicides, fungicides, insecticides,

continue to thrive.
We’re particularly proud of the
cutting-edge science behind the continued registration of atrazine, a
54-year-old herbicide that supports up to 85,000 U.S. jobs and benefits
growers by more than $3 billion each year. The research behind this
herbicide has paved the way for improved methods now used in the testing,
scientific review and risk-assessment processes for many other crop
protectants around the world.
In this issue of Thrive, you’ll see how Syngenta is successfully
keeping atrazine on the market and available to you. You’ll also see how
our technological advances are positively impacting other challenges, such
as managing resistance and helping plants stand up to seasonal stresses.
Along the way, you’ll meet some of agriculture’s finest product stewards,
including the 2012 Professional Farm Manager of the Year, No-Till Innovators
and Resistance Fighters of the Year.
As we focus on creating a step change in farm productivity this spring,
Syngenta is proud to offer you—our partners in the field—the industry’s
best portfolio of total-crop solutions. Our strong commitment to innovation and stewardship makes us uniquely qualified to do so. And with a
robust scientific and regulatory framework in place, a steady stream of
state-of-the-art technologies can continue to flow from us to you for many
seasons to come.
