Seeds and
Solutions
The familiar adage, “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts,”
may have originated in ancient Greece. But when it comes to
modern agriculture, the words still hold true today.
At Syngenta, we understand the value of building exceptional
whole-crop solutions with all the right parts. We are uniquely
equipped to offer our customers the technologies, expertise
and partnerships that all work together to produce healthier,
higher-yielding plants.
Of course, all good plants start with good seeds—an area rich
in innovation at Syngenta. We have spent the last decade
developing superior genetics that are now transforming the way
growers manage pests and other seasonal stresses across a
wide range of crops. While genetic yield gain is still a fundamental
measurement of success, we are using a broader lens to look at
other tools in our toolbox that can help unlock a seed’s full
potential, including seed treatments and crop-applied technologies. At the same time, we are leveraging the strength of our
global footprint in crop areas, such as sugarbeets and wheat, so
our U.S. breeders can develop localized solutions that target the
critical needs of specific regions.
Behind each solution, a team of Syngenta field experts stands
ready to help map out a plan that will maximize a crop’s success
from start to finish. In this issue of Thrive, you’ll meet a few of
these experts and discover some of our latest strategies for
managing agriculture’s costliest threats, including corn
rootworms, soybean cyst nematodes and drought. From
Florida’s eastern shore to the fertile fields of the Red River Valley,
you’ll travel to places where these strategies are making real
differences in the lives and livelihoods of growers, retailers and
other industry professionals.
As the 2014 seed selection process begins, we invite you to
experience our lineup of breakthrough genetics for yourself. While
we realize no single technology can resolve all your challenges,
the right seed—as part of a whole-crop solution—can lead to
season-long success.
