But Where Will They All Live? It’s covered. A number of Hawaii’s best-known and long-time residential developers are continuing their commitment to West Oahu. Among them are Gentry Homes, D.R. Horton-Schuler, Castle & Cooke and Haseko, none of them exactly new kids on the block. “D.R. Horton has from the beginning, seen the need to provide workforce housing for local families and had committed itself long before Hoopili ever was conceived, to building these homes within the urban growth boundaries as designated by the City & County of Honolulu,” says Mary Flood, vice president of sales and marketing for D.R. Horton-Schuler. If the entire project ultimately is completed, the 1.4 million-squarefoot shopping center would be the state’s second largest, tied with Pearlridge Center. There is a lot more happening in West Oahu, but unlike that dynamic area, we’re out of room for this section of our report.
