Kaikor Construction Company Inc. History/Background: Kaikor Construction Co. was founded by Grandison Allen and Garrett Sullivan in 1985 as a small, civil work general contractor doing $1.5 million Stephen Baginski to $2 million worth of work annually on Oahu only. Stephen Baginski joined the company in 1990 and became the company’s majority owner and CEO by early 2010. During his tenure, the company has grown to doing more than $15 million annually with work on multiple islands. Significant Projects/ Achievements: Scope of Services: Services provided by the company include bridge construction, structural concrete work, PCC paving, precast buildings and pervious concrete. “We offer large contract ability at a small price,” says Baginski. Kaikor’s most recent high profile project was the latest upgrade to Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki in preparation for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in November 2011. This last minute project replaced pedestrian walkways, beautified landscaping and improved drainage as well as upgraded affected areas to ADA compliance. The 27-year-old kamaaina firm has also had many projects recognized by the General Contractors Association of Hawaii at the prestigious Build Hawaii awards program. Kaikor has won numerous awards of merit and the top honor, the Award of Excellence, in 2008, 2010 and 2011 for the Waianae Bleacher Replacement (Oahu), the Seismic Retrofit of the Hakalau Bridge (Big Island) and the North Kahana Stream Bridge Replacement (Oahu), respectively. Current and recent projects other Kaikor constructs the 105,000-square-foot than those previously noted include Paradise Beverage Facility on Maui. the Roosevelt High School track and football field replacement, Dole Street parking structure for the University of Hawaii, D.
