DATEBOOK Now You’ve Built it, Here They Come Ever since Honolulu won its bid to host this month’s 2011 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Meeting, the building industry has been the beneficiary of several public and private projects intended to put our city and state in the best light for this illustrious event. Now after months of preparation, here they come. The week-long conference is expected to draw 20,000 attendees and focus the global eye on our island state. Regardless of your political views, there’s no denying the potential jolt this may bring to our floundering economy … if all goes as planned. If not, well, the cost in lost opportunities is likely immeasurable.
