ContractsAwarded Back to School A hefty 76 percent of the value of the contracts awarded in October is for school work, and much of it for University of Hawaii (UH) projects. That equates to 51 percent of the 29 contracts listed here. Seven are for UH, nine for public schools. The two biggest contributors are a $41.7 million contract to dck pacific construction, LLC for construction of a new information technology center, followed by a $15.3 million UH Edmonson Hall project won by Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co., Inc. While the building industry welcomes the school work more than students do, with a year-to-date total of $354,546,113, it brings us nowhere near last year’s $831,994,834 YTD total, leaving us still 57 percent down from the same time last year. Looks like we’ll need to keep those sharpened pencils close at hand...
