City Dedicates Wahiawa Transit Center The City & County of Honolulu on Oct. 25 dedicated its long-awaited $5.6 million Wahiawa Transit Center. Located between Center Street and California Avenue next to the State Civic Center, the facility includes a two-story structure, with the bus driveways and staging area and passenger waiting areas on the ground level and 58 parking stalls on the second level. Twenty-five stalls are dedicated to the staff and customers of the State Civic Center, while 33 are available for users of TheBus park and ride. “(The Wahiawa Transit Center) joins similar facilities in Kalihi, Mililani, Waipahu and Waianae,” said Mayor Peter Carlisle at the event. “We hope this transit center will become an integral part of the town with its pineapplethemed clock tower that acknowledges the significance of the pineapple industry in Wahiawa’s history.” Honolulu Builders, LCC served as the general contractor on the project, with prime design and construction management consultant AM Partners, Inc. The sub-consultants include: Hida Okamoto & Associates, Inc., Baldridge & Associates Structural Engineers, Inc., and Mechanical Engineers of Hawaii Corp.
