Optical Society of America - Exhibit Brochure 2008 - (Page 13) DON’T MISS THESE GREAT ADDITIONAL EXHIBIT FLOOR PROGRAMS INCLUDED WITH YOUR FREE EXPO PASS. EXHIBIT FLOOR PROGRAMS FTTx CENTER* FTTx technology continues to push fiber closer to users at home (FTTH) and at work (FTTB). FTTx has moved from field trials with only a handful of users to worldwide deployment that connects millions of users, and it shows no signs of losing momentum. The demand for triple-play services (voice, video and data) continues to increase substantially as the growing popularity of HDTV, IPTV and interactive communications cause bandwidth to be consumed at rates only fiber optics can provide. The FTTx Center features live demonstrations of working fiber-optic systems, network design and mapping software, fiber termination and splicing, cable preparation and testing. A wide array of products that encompass every aspect of FTTx technology, from components to systems, will also be on display, including equipment for testing, splicing, storage and cable management. Pick up a copy of the FTTx Locator Map to help you easily find all FTTx-related exhibits, visit the center’s literature area, or just stop by and discuss your project with subject matter experts! Coordination of the FTTx Center is once again provided by The Light Brigade. OSP/FIBER TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE* This on-floor theater features special presentations and demonstrations on topics of interest in today’s fiber-optic technology. PRESENTATION SCHEDULE TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 26 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. – by Lightel Technologies Fused Biconic Taper Components in Outside Plant and Optical Distribution Network Applications Fused Biconic Taper (FBT) components for branching and collecting return signals in FTTx applications rely on a mature and low-cost technology. FBT technology can offer the network designer wide flexibility in choosing a distributed architecture, installing taps where desired and WDMs for system monitoring. WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. – by The Light Brigade, Inc. Emergency Restoration Demonstration The pressure is off in these controlled demonstrations, which show what occurs in non-retrievable and retrievable slack emergency restorations from cutting the cable to application equipment and disciplines.
