This course will introduce new key concepts in the genetic and molecular basis of common liver diseases including nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), viral hepatitis, hepatobiliary malignancies, and cholestatic liver diseases built around a framework of clinical cases and expert lectures with session “wrap-ups” by moderators. In addition, a unique session will focus for the first time on the multidisciplinary approach to caring for patients with advanced liver disease, incorporating the perspectives of non-hepatologist experts in palliative care, allied subspecialties, and team management. This course will engage attendees in the excitement and astonishing growth in the discipline of hepatology, and prepare them to meet the growing challenges of caring for patients with liver disease.
