It currently serves 375 students. Samuel J. Green is operated by FirstLine Schools, a network of open-enrollment charter schools. In addition to operating college-preparatory schools, FirstLine provides training and resources to educators around the city, aiming to improve the quality of schools for all New Orleans children. Louise S. McGehee School girls, day, grades: PreK-12 www.mcgehee.k12.la.us Louise S. McGehee School was founded in 1912 as a college–preparatory school for young women. Located in the historic Garden District, McGehee enrolls 435 girls. McGehee School has one of the highest rates of diversity among the independent schools in New Orleans. We celebrate multicultural issues from our nursery school through high school. We have girls of many religions and multiple cultures around the world attending our school. We also were the first school in town to incorporate laptops into the curriculum and continue to lead the way in technology. Service learning at McGehee has been nationally recognized twice. Metairie Park Country Day School prepares its students to succeed in a rapidly changing and culturally diverse world. The school actively encourages respect and empowerment of all individuals, broadening our students’ educational experiences. Country Day values individuals whose differences include, but are not limited to, age, ethnicity, family structure, gender, learning style, physical ability, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. We support inclusion through our admission policies, hiring practices, professional development, and curriculum. We believe that our commitment to diversity is an ongoing process; one that will continue to strengthen and enhance our school and global community. Isidore Newman School PS-12 www.newmanschool.org co-ed, grades: Founded in 1903, by Isidore Newman to educate children living at the Jewish Orphan’s home on historic St. Charles Ave, Newman School has become one of the most revered and respected independent schools in the city of New Orleans. Our statement of purpose includes, “Newman instills in each student the School’s core values of honesty, kindness, respect, and responsibility, and develops in each student self-confidence and an appreciation for cultural and personal differences.” From PK-12th grade, our students celebrate multicultural issues on all levels. Our strategic plan, which was revised after Hurricane Katrina, captures our commitment to diversity and inclusion in every facet of the school. 1 http://www.mpcds.com http://www.mcgehee.k12.la.us http://www.newmanschool.org
