DELTA AIR LINES Poised to become the best U.S. carrier in the region DEEPENS TIES TO LATIN AMERICA Delta Air Lines has grown its presence in Latin America by more than 40 percent since 2005. And, with nine strategic hubs, including New York-JFK, Atlanta and Detroit that connect Latin America with the rest of the world, Delta is poised to become the best U.S. carrier in the region. Today, Delta operates more than 1,000 weekly flights to 52 destinations in 32 countries. Included in that growth are eight new destinations and 20 new city pairs that have been added within the past five years alone. As further proof of Delta’s strong commitment to the region, in March Delta will add new frequencies from New York-JFK to Santo Domingo and Santiago, Dominican Republic; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Delta also is launching new nonstop service between New York-LaGuardia and Nassau, Bahamas. The new and expanded Caribbean routes will serve significant local demand for flights to those markets. Recently expanded service to Latin destinations also include daily flights to all of Central America; daily nonstop service between Brasilia (the capital of Brazil) and Atlanta, and daily nonstop service between Detroit and Säo Paulo. “Delta’s expanded service, product and partnerships prove that we are committed to the Latin America markets,” said Nicolas Ferri, Delta’s vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean. “We’re now better positioned than ever before to meet our goal of becoming the best U.S. carrier in Latin America.” Top: Full flat-bed seats in BusinessElite. The crown jewel of that investment is a $1.2 billion expansion at New York-JFK Terminal 4. The project will create the most modern terminal at John F. Kennedy Airport, which will add nine new international gates for a total of 16 when construction is completed in 2013. Delta’s largest hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is also getting a new international terminal slated to open this spring. With nearly 1,000 peak-day departures to 216 destinations worldwide, Atlanta is the world’s busiest hub. Delta operates nonstop service from Atlanta to 66 international destinations in 43 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. continued on page D8 recommend.com http://www.recommend.com
