Meet Well
Breaks New Ground
Prevue and the Incentive Research Foundation (IRF) sponsor the first-ever event
dedicated to wellness at meetings. By Barbara Scofidio

From tai chi to aromatherapy, attendees at
the premier Meet Well conference, held this
past spring at the MGM Grand Las Vegas
Hotel & Casino, experienced dozens
of wellness experiences that they could
integrate into their own events. Prevue's
planners challenged MGM to integrate
wellness into every aspect of the event-
from decor to F&B-and they went above
and beyond to do so.
A highlight was the serene Zen lounge
created just for Meet Well, with cozy furniture
and live orchids and succulents lit by dozens
of candles. Attendees sampled MGM
Grand's Stay Well conference rooms and
guest rooms. The conference rooms feature
circadian lighting and an air purification
system that had everyone remarking at how
fresh the air in the meeting space felt. Stay
Well guest rooms offer private check-in
and feature such touches as citrus-infused
showerheads and memory foam beds. A

private check-in lounge creates exclusivity in
the massive casino hotel.
Creating tasty yet nourishing F&B was
a breeze using The Stay Well menu, with
healthy snacks such as vegetable ships and
lunch items such as quinoa and farro salads.
For the opening reception, the team at The
Mansion researched the nutritional information
for all the hors d'oeuvres they served, and
displayed it next to the food in pretty silverframed signs they created. It was the first
time they had ever received that request, said
Director of Operations, Bob Benzo.
Highlights of the packed educational
agenda included Melissa Van Dyke, president
of the IRF, sharing the first glimpse of its
"Wellness in Meetings and Incentive Travel"
survey. The research showed a divide
between wellness practices that planners
would like to include in their meetings and
what their budgets or management will allow.
As a result, Meet Well attendees referred to

practicing "sneaky wellness," or finding ways
to sneak in healthy elements regardless.
There was also a session on energizing
without caffeine by Hallie Sculler, founder of
The Great Office Escape and Happy Being,
and an energizing presentation by Dianne
Devitt of DND Group on the impact of the
senses on learning (read more of Dianne's

between, attendees had a chance to join an
early morning yoga session, try their hand at
tai chi and sample various wellness-themed
gifts from Happy Being-everything from an
invigorating exercise ball to a cupcake candle
to a Himalayan heart stone-all of which can
be used as giveaways for attendees. Back
in the Zen lounge, they got to experience
special Deepak Chopra DreamWeaver 3.0
glasses, which use light and sound pulses at
specified frequencies to help the user reach
different states of consciousness, similar to
what occurs during meditation.
