A tapestry of local flavors, stunning
seascapes and friendly people
unfolds for groups meeting in the

The islands of the Caribbean have always been a desired destination
for meeting and incentive groups. But now the region's resorts-
made up primarily of all-inclusives-have stepped up their game,
especially on the culinary front. From the Cayman Islands' "Flavour
Tour" that showcases native ingredients to the HoriZonZ restaurant
at Hyatt Zilara in Jamaica, where groups can dine toes in the sand
to the sound of a live band playing on the beach, meetings and
incentives gain hyperlocal culinary options like never before.
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
The Dominican Republic's capital city, Santo Domingo, is at the heart
of the country's culture and traditions, including its culinary heritage.
The foodies in the group can learn to cook traditional
Dominican dishes with well-known local chef Martin Omar Gonzalez
who teaches interactive culinary classes at Casa Puerto Santo,
a home built in 1578. Chef Gonzalez prepares sancocho in this
setting using native vegetables such as yuca, tapioca, squash,
potatoes and a variety of citrus fruits and herbs. His "Native Taste"
class demonstrates how to make three popular Dominican dishes,
including crispy cassava sticks, which are fried in hot oil and similar
in texture to French fries.
Santo Domingo's iconic 300-room Renaissance Santo
Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino has been completely
revamped by parent company Marriott International. The year-long,
$40 million renovation preserved many of its historic aspects. The
hotel's 10 meeting spaces include La Fiesta theater, which can
accommodate 1,200. The Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua
Hotel & Casino joins the recently opened JW Marriott Hotel Santo
Domingo and the Courtyard Santo Domingo.
In Punta Cana, the 524-room all-inclusive Natura Park Eco
Resort & Spa has the feel of a calming tropical oasis, with 100
acres of gardens, mangroves and its own coconut plantation. The
eco-resort was designed using the area's natural resources, such
as local stone and materials from the coconut trees. Attendees
can expect to see turtles, flamingos, ducks and peacocks right
on the property, which is interspersed with lagoons and bridges
along winding paths leading to Playa Bavaro beach. For meetings,
