rooftop bar-an optimal place to watch the free nightly Garden
Rhapsody light show.
The 2,561-room Marina Bay Sands Singapore is also in a
league of its own, standing out from almost every vantage point
in downtown Singapore. The property features the expected
convention space, retail outlets, casino and F&B options of any
integrated resort with the added bonus of a rooftop infinity pool-
the world's largest-where swimmers can literally float atop the
city. Attendees who are not staying at the resort can pay to see the
SkyPark observation deck, or meeting planners can organize an
event at one of four restaurants and bars located on the roof.
Singapore's accolade of "tech-ready nation," given by the
World Economic Forum, is nowhere more apparent than at Suntec
Singapore. Its Big Picture lobby, which contains the world's largest
HDTV video wall, featuring a total of 664 screens, earned a spot
in the 2013 Guinness Book of Records. And nearly 452,000 sf
of rentable space is spread across six floors. Other tech-centric
highlights include a 1,000-color LED light system in the exhibit hall
and WiFi heat map that shows where the free WiFi is most used.
Six hotels are within walking distance of Suntec Singapore: Conrad
Centennial Singapore, JW Marriott Singapore South Beach (newly
opened), Mandarin Oriental Singapore, Marina Mandarin Singapore,
Pan Pacific Singapore and The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore.

"One of the main reasons groups
visit Singapore is the value of
meeting people from across the
different regions [of Asia]."

OLD MEETS NEW
The epitome of old-meets-new is the National Gallery Singapore,
which opened in 2015 in Singapore's old Supreme Court
building. Here, groups can meet amid some of the country's best
artwork. The two original buildings are now connected via a new
architectural design that uses natural lighting elements to spotlight
different parts of the building depending on the time of day. Built
around the former Supreme Court's Rotunda dome, the Supreme
Court Terrace is perhaps the most inventive space and has been
used for past events planned by big-name brands such as Cartier.
Despite Singapore's vast and quick changes, attendees
can still take in tradition (quite literally) by ordering the gin-based
Singapore Sling where it was first created at Long Bar in Raffles
Singapore hotel. The second you step inside the bar, you get a
glimpse of what British rule was like with quaint ceiling fans spinning
overhead and peanut shells littering the floors. As one of the few
remaining 19th century hotels in the world, Raffles Singapore was
declared a national monument by the Singapore Government.
Offering another glimpse back in time, the 98-room Fullerton
Bay Hotel and 339-room Fullerton Hotel anchor The Fullerton
Heritage complex, which comprises three other historic landmarks:
Clifford Pier, Customs House and The Fullerton Waterboat House.
Similar to Ellis Island in the US, Clifford Pier is the location where
several immigrants entered into Singapore in the 1930s. It now
houses a fine-dining establishment of the same name.
