Wellness Is on the Agenda Above: Break bites at The Mansion Our Meet Well Summit was packed with ideas for healthier events. By Barbara Scofidio T wenty meeting planners who are passionate about integrating wellness into their meetings joined Prevue and the Incentive Research Foundation (IRF) for the second annual Meet Well Summit at MGM Grand Las Vegas' StayWell Conference Center this past January. From the start, this was no ordinary conference. Attendees checked in privately at the StayWell lounge before heading to their StayWell rooms, fitted with such amenities as air purification, circadian rhythm lighting and Vitamin C showerheads. There, they were greeted with a special gift: a yoga mat and invite to attend "meeting planner yoga" the next morning. 78 | prevuemeetings.com The hotel also created a serene Zen lounge where attendees could sip fruitinfused waters and teas. That evening, at the opening reception at The Mansion, all dishes had ingredients posted on a sign next to them-a special touch created just for our meeting. Attendees wore exercise clothes and donned slippers given by the hotel on "Education Day." During lunch, hotel chefs shared the philosophies and practices behind the special StayWell menu, a tasty selection that's healthy, too, and a whiteboard listed ideas for integrating wellness into meetings. Summit highlights included a presentation by Debra Duneier of EcoChi on how to use the ancient art of feng shui to design meeting room layouts; a session where Dianne Devitt of DND Group shared tips for injecting wellness into the agenda; and pointers on how to dissect banquet menus to do away with unhealthy choices and allergens from Thrive! Meeting and Events' Tracy Stuckrath. Many thanks to our hotel partner, the MGM Grand Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, our sponsors, Caesars Entertainment, LaFonda on the Square, Playa Hotels & Resorts and Sandals Resorts, and our amenity partner, Cultivate, which provided each attendee with a pair of Olukai sandals.
