New meetings options abound in this West Coast destination

e can thank the expanded Anaheim Convention
Center (ACC), its campus of meetings and bleisure
hotels, and a plethora of neighboring entertainment,
dining and sports facilities-the Angels Stadium to
the Mighty Ducks' Honda Center.
Visit Anaheim President and CEO Jay Burress gave us a
personalized tour of the convention center, which recently celebrated
its 50th anniversary with the grand opening of ACC North.
"This is a historic moment for the ACC and the city of Anaheim,"
said Burress. "ACC North delivers on the vision we had to build a
modern, expansive space that can be completely customizable and
attract even more groups to Anaheim."
ACC North adds 200,000 sf to the center (for a total of 1 million)
and the campus conveniently includes two major hotel properties
on one block. Hilton Anaheim and Anaheim Marriott work
cooperatively to provide 3,000 guest rooms and flexible indoor
and outdoor function space just steps away from the ACC. With
1,572 rooms (many, including my Studio Suite, have views of
Disneyland's nightly fireworks), Hilton Anaheim is Orange County's
largest hotel, and features 150,000 sf of function space. The hotel's
most unique private event space is the Chef's Table with seating for
12 inside the kitchen of French Master Chef Frederic Castan, who
jovially guided us through a lavish breakfast of mimosas, housemade baked goods and sausages, omelets and sweet made-toorder crepes. Directly across the pedestrian plaza at the Anaheim
Marriott, General Manager John Kalinski showed off his 1,030-room
hotel's five ballrooms, the pool-adjacent NFuse restaurant and
bar, and a new garden-to-table menu helmed by Executive Chef
and "Farmologist" Dave Dulkis, who proudly served us dishes and
cocktails featuring herbs and produce grown on the hotel grounds.
THE DISNEY FACTOR
Anaheim's three world-class Disneyland Resort hotels and the
Downtown Disney District are constantly upgrading meetings
spaces and group experiences as only Disney can. "Disneyland
Resort is Southern California's premier convention destination,"
says Robert Donahue, sales director for Disneyland Resort.
"With the resources of the world's best creative content
company providing the Disney magic, each organization's vision
can be presented in just about any format you can dream of."
We were treated to an intimate VIP reception in the retro Blue
Sky Suite penthouse at the Disneyland Hotel and witnessed a
group earning their Disney diplomas from The Disney Institute at
the Paradise Pier Hotel. At Disney's Grand California Hotel &
Spa, General Manager Dan Coleman gave us a sneak peek of the
atrium lobby's grand remodel followed by the World of Color show
at Disney California Adventure Park.
THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES
Other culinary adventures can be found at the Anaheim Packing
House, a former 1919 citrus warehouse that has been reinvented
as a lively, modern food hall. Across the street is the MAKE
Building, a former marmalade factory where Pali Wine Company
hosts blind wine-tasting team building competitions, and Unsung
Brewing Co.'s brewer and comic book author Mike Crea hosts
superhero-inspired craft beer and cheese pairing courses.
