five years by the creation of daily, memorable experiences."
New at the Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos AllInclusive Golf & Spa is the "Barefoot Elegance Experience"
where groups can participate in a traditional grape stomping ritual
and unwind with a reflexology massage incorporating Chardonnay
grape-based body cream, followed by a wine tasting session with
the resort's sommelier. The "Table Experience" at the Grand Fiesta
Americana Coral Beach Cancun is another luxury culinary
adventure that combines fine dining with storytelling. Groups take
their places around a video mapping table that displays the rich
history of the Yucatan Peninsula, while enjoying an eight-course
meal designed to complement each period of Mexican history.
"From tequila classes in Puerto Vallarta to Mayan fire dances
in Cancun to a barefoot wine experience in Los Cabos, our allinclusive resorts provide every attendee with an authentic Mexican
experience," Manzella says.
MELIA HOTELS INTERNATIONAL
"Luxury continues to be defined as experiences not available at home,"
says John Iannini, CIS, CTC, VP of business travel and meetings and
events America at Melia Hotels International. "Requests to your
butler on WhatsApp or beach chairs that can send a message to a
butler's iWatch drive the instant gratification urge in the luxury sector."
Customization is central to Melia's all-inclusive strategy for
groups, especially options that reflect and define a company's
culture. Possibilities include CSR projects like having attendees
bring school supplies from home to school kids in need.
"In the 29 years since the first Velas
resort opened, the bar has been raised
for the luxury resort experience."
Back on-site, it's all about the branding. "Customized signage,
group lounges, privatized beach team building and celebration
spaces have been added to our group offerings. Next on the horizon
is a graffiti wall where attendees can express themselves during a
cocktail reception and get their creative juices flowing with fun and
personal artistic expressions."
Another luxe experience features Don Julio Tequila via
educational sessions about the unique grades of tequila in a
dedicated branded location, and a similar concept with Moet
Champagne featuring a tasting experience normally only available
at their vineyards. This year, Michelin-star group dining experiences
for gala banquets with customized local farm-to-table menus
is on the agenda.
The first Nobu in Mexico opens this year, a 200-room property with
the signature minimalist Japanese design the brand is known for. The
ultra-luxe Nobu chain began nearly a decade ago with collaboration
between iconic actor Robert De Niro and iconic chef Nobu Matsuhisa.
Plans are now in the works to open 20 Nobus by 2020.
