opened in September in Edinburgh following a lengthy renovation of the ex-Hilton Caledonian. This is the largest grand dame hotel in the Scottish capital, located at the base of the majestic 1st-century Edinburgh Castle. Make sure you ask for the castle-view rooms. Originally a train station built in 1903, the 250-room Caledonian has a ton of natural light and large windows that create a really welcoming energy for groups. The grand staircase is a national landmark, as is the local Scotsman who comes in on a regular basis for a dram at the Peacock Alley lobby lounge, Sir Sean Connery. “Everyone loves the railway brick architecture and decor inside,” said Sarah McLean, director of sales, during our tour.
