What is sustainability? It's a question that is
becoming ever more relevant within our industry as
the ethical dimensions of meetings, incentives and
conventions continue to evolve. Our last issue of 2017
explores this topic-New York to Singapore-in

sustainable communities and events therein. In
Newport Beach, California (page 48), one resort
has the safeguarding of wild spaces on the agenda,

tourism adventures.
A new meetings trend in Canada is bringing
age-old wisdom and traditions full circle (page 12),
while finding new and experiential ways to keep the
stories alive is a thread that binds Belgium (56) to
Boise, Idaho (54). Our all-inclusives story on page
32 reminds us that organizations, be they hotels
or resorts, are living systems too, and properties

throughout the Caribbean and Mexico are offering
customized added value as a new layer to their
service-oriented business cultures. Uniworld River

adding their two cents to the conversation through

When it comes to expanding the paradigm of
possibility for meetings and incentives, look no further

chosen by our meeting planning community. And as
we move into 2018, let's not forget the role that selfsustainability plays in your ability to create sustainable
