For the more advanced to expert skiers, the tram, which underwent a $30 million replacement and was completed in December 2009, carries 100 passengers 4,139 vertical ft. in nine minutes and boasts the longest continual vertical rise of any lift in the United States. The snowriding from the top of the tram—not to mention the views—are both breathtaking and jaw-dropping. The multitude and length of the various descents from the top of Rendezvous Mountain (the ﬁnal destination of the tram), clearly afﬁrm Jackson Hole Mountain’s regular listing as one of the top ski and snowboarding destinations in the world. Furthermore, the development and modernization of Jackson Hole Mountain has resulted in the allocation of more substantial terrain for intermediate and beginner snowboarders. The Apres Vous and the Sublette quad lifts take snowriders to abundant manageable terrain of blue and lower level black runs. And beginners will have plenty of fun and comfortable rides off both the Gondola and the Casper Bowl chairs. Vacationers to the area will be happy to know, too, that there are rarely lift lines to delay them from continuous snowriding. Visitors are encouraged to set their own agenda, schedule a private lesson for up to four family members or friends and enjoy instruction from one of its many world-class instructors who will design a private lesson to ﬁt the abilities and goals of any snowrider. Early tram private rides are also available designed to transport skiers and snowboarders on the aerial tram to the top of the mountain for ﬁrst tracks. This trip is recommended for advance skiers and snowboarders only. Similar opportunities are provided for intermediates and beginners on early gondola private trips. A full array of exciting and unique backcountry guides are also available because Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is among the very few areas to permit skiers and snowboarders to exit the ski area boundary via gates along the perimeter, which allows access to thousands of acres of back-country skiing. Visitors are encouraged to hire a back-country guide to show them the way and ensure safe travel through Jackson Hole’s phenomenal back-country.
