The term “TechNucation” (Hasse & Wallace) best defines what we need—a technology literacy embedded in all facets of our education. We must embrace technologies in the workforce to equip our learners as strong and innovative contributors to society. The division must work to facilitate program development and improvement that prepares students for emerging occupations and engage with business and industry CTE professionals to align standards with workforce needs. I support using the policy and research areas of ACTE to facilitate new program models to integrate academic and CTE content. I would explore marketing means for promoting underrepresented populations, especially females in all areas of CTE, especially in engineering and technology education. I support high standards, high expectations and an emphasis on realworld, relevant and project-based learning as necessary for success in today’s workforce. Chickering and Gamson stated, “Learning is not a spectator sport. Learners must talk about what they are learning, write about it, relate it to past experiences, apply it to their lives. They must make what they learn part of themselves.” CTE does this!
