(2010–present); SCAFCS Board of Directors Liaison for FCCLA (2011– present); NATFACS Member (2011–present) Platform Statement: My first goal is to acclimate myself to the inner workings of the organization. Seeking advisement from past officers, FACS and CTE professionals will better equip me to provide optimal leadership. My goals also include fulfilling the mission of the Division and the Association. I will work towards providing the best support possible for professionals in my Division and the CTE sector. This will be accomplished by staying abreast of emerging trends and disseminating pertinent information. I intend to be professional and enthusiastic in accomplishing this. Another responsibility includes providing viable input from our Division to the Board of Directors. In addition, I shall relate all goals and policies of ACTE to the Division to remain in compliance, which will require an acute understanding of policies and ensuring that committee members understand policies and expectations. In accepting this responsibility, I pledge to coordinate all Division activities with the highest level of efficiency and professionalism. In doing this, I will establish collaboration between FACS professionals and the Division so that all will be stakeholders in providing the best activities possible. Charlotte Gray Region: III Division: FACS/Administration Occupation: FACS Teacher Employment History: High School FACS Education: Wentzville Holt High School (1995– present), Eldorado Springs High School (1994–1995), Pattonville High School (1987–1990); Middle School FACS Education: Wentzville Middle School (1992–1994), Francis Howell School District (1991–1992) Education: Ohio State University (MS, Education); University of Missouri-Columbia (BS, Education) ACTE Involvement—ACTE Division: FACS Division Nominating Committee Member (2010–present) ACTE National—Other Activities: NATFACS President (2008–2009); NATFACS Secretary (2001–2003); various NATFACS committees (1988–present) State/Local: Missouri Educators of FACS Board Member (1992–2010); Missouri Association for Career and Technical Education Committee Member; Career and Tech Lead Teacher, Wentzville School District (2007–present) Platform Statement: A teaching career has a beginning, a middle and an end. Professional-development needs for each stage of teaching are different and usually forgotten when planning activities. Veteran teachers have a wealth of knowledge and are always looking for new teaching techniques, unlike the beginning teacher who is looking for someone who they can call upon for all their teaching needs. If elected, my focus would be to provide support to the current members as they develop strategies to implement current techniques, while building the leadership skills of beginning teachers—the future of ACTE and CTE. Becoming a leader does not happen overnight, and my involvement in ACTE has made me a stronger teacher. I was very fortunate to have great mentors who showed me the

path to becoming a successful leader. Beginning teachers need the same passionate leaders who will encourage them to build their professional skills to be successful in and out the classroom. As I recall my years in the teaching profession, I am still looking for new ways to both improve myself and help our future leaders!

As a consequence of the recent economic downturn, more and more people are looking for a way to increase their potential for employment. CTE is a desirable solution because our training meets a wide range of needs. We offer dynamic programs designed to prepare high school students for entry into college or the workforce, to further develop the capabilities of recent college graduates and to enhance the skill set of seasoned professionals. Now is the time to tell our story and truly showcase the success of our students and the programs where they received their training. The state and federal legislators, as well as our local communities, need to hear about the real-world, relevant training we offer students. It is our
