King County Metro Transit (KCM) is seeking expressions of interest to identify firms and obtain
information from firms experienced in developing,
designing, and building extended range battery
electric powered transit buses as described below
under Objective.
KCM seeks to lease up to two electric powered
buses and associated chargers from each interested
bus manufacturer that can meet the following requirements.
KCM defines extended range vehicles as being
capable of traveling at least 140 miles on a single
charge under maximum loads and the harshest conditions present in the King County operating environment. KCM defines extended range as a minimum of
140 miles on a single charge, and a charge time of
four hours or less.
KCM is interested in testing both 40' and 60' battery powered transit buses.
King County Metro will operate, test, and evaluate each electric powered bus to determine if it offers
a viable alternative to replace the existing diesel and
diesel-hybrid powered buses to meet service needs.
This RFI is not an actual solicitation of bids or offers, which may be solicited by means of a Request for
Proposals (RFP) at a later date. The purpose of this RFI
is to identify as many products as possible that have
been successfully implemented or can be developed
and implemented to meet KCM's needs.

Transportation (SMART) composed of member jurisdictions of San Miguel County and the Towns of

serve as the first Executive Director of the newly created transportation authority. The Authority serves a
