Short Line Connector - Spring 2016 - 5

single-source customer management
platform - iMIS/RISE. We anticipate
members will find the new website to
be much cleaner and easier to navigate
than previous sites. Discover its new and
improved features at www.ASLRRA.org.
Several priority goals were considered
when designing and developing the site:
* Provide meaningful, easy-to-access
information to three target groups:
current members, potential members
and the public, media and legislative
or regulatory branch members.
* Provide opportunities to tell the story
of the short line industry.
* Demonstrate the value of ASLRRA to
its members and prospective members.
* Require minimal staff intervention
for updates - data will pull primarily
from changes made to iMIS, and all
pages will update concurrently on the
public-facing site.

* Provide a platform for engagement
for members.
* Offer simplicity in keeping the content "fresh."
"In its first week, the website was
already meeting objectives, with specific
inquiries regarding membership, 2016
CONNECTIONS Convention exhibitions and from the media, several of
which resulted in new members and new
exhibitors," shared Krouse.
Phase two of website development will
see the implementation of additional
functionality, including:
* Communities, available to logged-in
members, that will provide information,
blogs and libraries of content for
committees and other interested members.
* Case studies and video for the public site.
* Interactive maps and content for research.

engagement - communities focused on
specific interest areas - is developed.
From a business perspective, the new
website will serve as a platform for delivering an increasing array of products and
services to members - such as the new
Webinar Series - and provide nondues
advertising revenue opportunities for
the Association.
ASLRRA on Social Media
Social media will be the next priority
for the communications team, including
Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Railroad Day on Capitol Hill in 2015 and
2016 included a Twitter communications strategy. (See more about Railroad
Day 2016 on page 27.) Members can
expect to see similar activity in 2016, as
the team seeks to provide a strong, relevant online voice for ASLRRA and its
members. Follow along @ASLRRA! —
