PILOT CHEMICAL CO. NAMES NEW REGIONAL SALES MANAGER IN
THE NORTHEAST; ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT OF LONG-TIME PLANT
MANAGER; LMG HIRES NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Jeff Crume is Pilot Chemical Co.'s
new regional sales manager for the
Northeast, where he will oversee the
growth of products and technology in
his assigned territory. Crume has more
than 15 years of experience in chemical sales and most recently served as an
account manager for the personal care
and home care markets for Lubrizol
Advanced Materials in Cleveland,
Ohio. He replaces Rob Pifer, who
moved to regional sales manager for
the Midwest. Crume will work directly with customers and distributors.
Tom Melhorn, plant manager of
Pilot Chemical Co.'s Lockland, Ohio,
facility, retired May 1, 2017, after 38
years of service. Melhorn joined Pilot
as a quality control (QC) chemist in
1978 and quickly worked his way up
to plant manager, where he served for
30 years. Among other milestones, he
was instrumental in the development
of several key product lines and upheld
a notable safety record, completing 15
years without a lost-time accident.
"Tom has been an important part
of the Pilot family and a valued asset
in the community for more than three
decades," said Paul Morrisroe, chairman
of Pilot Chemical's board of directors.
"We thank him for his years of service
and wish him well in his retirement."
Kirk Schlup has been hired as new
business development manager for

Liquid Minerals Group Ltd. (LMG),
effective May 1, 2017. Pilot Chemical
Co. acquired LMG in 2016 to expand
into new markets and geographies.
Schlup will play an integral role in the
development of LMG in the specialty
chemicals category. Schlup brings more
than 30 years of experience in product
development and chemical sales and
most recently served as managing
director for KS Resources LLC in
Woodbury, Connecticut.
QUAKER CHEMICAL AND
HOUGHTON INTERNATIONAL
TO COMBINE

Quaker Chemical Corp. and Houghton
International Inc., companies with a
combined 250-year history as providers
of process fluids, chemical specialties
and technical expertise to the global
primary metals and metalworking
industries, have executed a definitive
agreement to combine the companies. Both Quaker Chemical and
Houghton International are based in
the Philadelphia area.

"The proposed combination of Quaker
Chemical and Houghton International
represents the next phase of our evolution, and stays true to the vision of growing in our core specialties," said Michael
F. Barry, chairman and chief executive
officer of Quaker Chemical.
Sanjay Hinduja, chairman
of Houghton International, which is
owned by the Hinduja Group through
its Gulf Oil business, said, "We are
pleased to enter this agreement to
unite these two distinguished and
global companies. Together we will
strengthen our capabilities and business models to better serve the global
market and all our stakeholders."
The agreement has been approved by
both Quaker Chemical's board of directors and Houghton International's board
of directors with full support of the Hinduja Group, which will become Quaker
Chemical's largest shareholder.
