| inside ite ITE NEWS Call for Data-ITE Parking Generation Manual, 5th Edition and Shared Parking, 3rd Edition The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and the Parking Consultants Council (PCC) of the National Parking Association (NPA) are collaborating on the third edition of Shared Parking, which is sponsored by the Urban Land Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers, and the Parking Generation Manual, 5th Edition for release in early 2019. As ITE and NPA embark upon this update, we invite you to submit parking demand data. ITE relies heavily on the voluntary submittal of data from the transportation community to produce this valuable reference. In collaborating with NPA to update both resources, this will ensure consistency and ease of use for practitioners. * Hotel-hotel, all suites hotel, business hotel, motel, and resort hotel including analysis of impacts of with the emergence of Transportation Network Companies (i.e., Uber and Lyft) Mixed use-Mid-rise and high-rise residential with 1st-floor commercial Medical-outpatient surgical facility, free-standing emergency room, clinics Restaurants-fast casual restaurants and urban restaurants Super convenience market/gas station Marijuana dispensary High-cube fulfillment centers and transload, parcel hub, and cold storage warehouses Grocery stores-particularly in urban areas Schools-public, private, charter preferable, from which ITE can classify the site as general urban/suburban, dense multi-use urban, center city core, rural, or some other classification). Our data needs are described in the data collection forms on the ITE website, at https://www.ite.org/parkinggeneration/ datacollection.asp and in Parking Generation, 4th Edition. In addition to a continuous, multi-hour count of vehicle parking demand, ITE needs a complete description of the site characteristics (e.g., gross square footage, number of dwelling units, parking supply, parking cost) and its setting (street address is In addition, any ITE or NPA member willing to provide information for a case study on a shared parking project should contact Mary Smith (msmith@walkerconsultants.com) or Jerry Marcus (jmarcus@theparkingadvisorygroup.com). They will provide guidance and forms in the development of a case study. Non-PCC members who submit case studies and data on single land uses will receive appropriate recognition in the publication. * * * * * * * If you have conducted parking demand counts, we strongly urge you to consider submitting the data for inclusion in the 5th Edition. We will accept data for any land use in all settings, even those not included in Parking Generation, 4th Edition or Trip Generation Manual, 10th Edition. We particularly encourage submittal of data for the following land uses: * Residential-traditional and emerging types of residential development (such as affordable housing, age-targeted communities, co-housing, off-campus student apartments, micro-apartments, and zero parking apartments), with a focus on multifamily housing, including analysis based on the number of bedrooms * Office-small and large office buildings and office parks, including analysis of parking demand impacts of changing employment densities and changing work patterns such as office sharing and telecommuting * Retail - all types of retail uses, especially those for which parking demand could have been affected by the increasing popularity of on-line shopping 12 Ap r i l 2018 i te j o urn al * ITE encourages electronic data submittals.
