GET READY FOR MINNEAPOLIS!
Host of the Joint ITE International and Midwestern/
Great Lakes Districts Annual Meeting and Exhibit!
By John Crawford, Steve Manhart, and
Joe Gustafson
Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA... Home of this
year's Super Bowl and the 2019 NCAA Final
Four Men's Basketball Championship. Home
of 2017 and 2018 X Games. Home to several
Fortune 500 companies, including Target,
Best Buy, Cargill, General Mills, and more. And
in 2018, it will be host to the ITE International
Annual Meeting and Exhibit.
Over the past few years, members of the
Midwestern District (MWITE) and Great
Lakes District (GLITE) have conferred about
the potential of holding a Joint District
Meeting. The North Central Section of ITE
(NCITE) was in line to host the 2018 MWITE
District Meeting, so the opportunity to host
the Joint District Meeting with the 2018 ITE
International Annual Meeting and Exhibit
was proposed. Based on these discussions,
ITE Headquarters accepted the bid, and the
Minneapolis-Saint Paul Twin Cities venue

and Midwestern/Great Lakes Districts Annual
Meeting and Exhibit!

Since hosting successful ITE Annual Meeting
and Exhibits in 1973 and 1996, NCITE and
the Midwestern District have been anxious
to bring the International meeting back to
Minnesota. The Twin Cities region of Minneapolis-Saint Paul is the place to be! Aside
from hosting the championships of pro football and college basketball, other activities
and opportunities abound! Saint Paul has
seen the opening of its new Saints outdoor
baseball stadium in 2015 and will see the
opening of a new world-class MLS Soccer
stadium in 2019. Further, the famous Mall of
America has completed a major expansion in
size and visitor offerings. In the southwestern
Twin Cities Metro, Prince's Paisley Park studio
now offers tours of the performer's famous
compound.
The Twin Cities metro area, which is home
to more than three million people, has long
been at the forefront in transportation policy,
research, design, and infrastructure. In addition, the Twin Cities often lead the way in
livability, bicycle-friendliness, family travel
options, public transportation, active lifestyles,
education, job creation, economy, energy-
