Chairman’s Update Herb Anderson
Change Is in the Air!
As my term ends as the chairman of the NPA and I move into the immediate past chairman role, it is a time to reflect on the direction of the organization. First and foremost we are excited to introduce Christine Banning, MA, CAE, as the new president of the National Parking Association. Christine, formerly vice president of marketing and communications with SCORE in Washington, D.C., is an enthusiastic and experienced executive who brings the right skill sets to this organization at the right time. The search firm we contracted considered more than 100 candidates and interviewed 40. The search committee, which led by Jed Hatfield, interviewed six very qualified candidates in Washington, D.C. Andrew Blair, Jed and I interviewed the final two candidates and it was clear to us that, with her past experience and accomplishments, Christine was the clear choice to lead our organization into the future. We look forward to introducing Christine to you at the NPA convention in Boston. Also at the Boston convention in October, I will turn the chairman’s role to the capable leadership of Jed Hatfield. Jed has served in many leadership roles in his many years of service and has most recently been in the role of chairman elect. Jed is an experienced leader and I look forward to serving on the Executive Committee with him in the future. I would like to thank the members of the Board of Directors that I served with and the Executive Committee. The member of the Executive Committee are: Andrew Blair, Jed Hatfield, Alan Lazowski, Bob Baer, David Douglas, Deb Fogel, Gary Cudney, Jeff Wolfe, Jerry South, John Udelson, Mark Muglich, Mark Pratt, Mike Stevens, Nicolle Judge, Rick West, Rob Zuritsky, Roy Carter and Tim Leonoudakis. In addition, I would like to thank John Fiegel, who held the interim president’s position over the last year. And last but not least, I have also changed my role within Impark. While I am still one of four shareholders of Impark, I resigned my role as chairman, president and CEO. I have decided to move back to my home town of New Orleans and assume the role of chairman and CEO of Royal Parking, the company I started with my son, Neil. Many of my articles have dealt with my love and affection for the City of New Orleans, and I am excited to be back and have the opportunity to work more closely with my son, and at some point, my daughter, Emily. I look forward to seeing you this month at the NPA Convention in Boston! 
