McCain Inc. has entered an agreement to install its Parking Guidance System at the University of San Diego (USD) to help direct motorists to available parking locations. The official contract, entered on June 3, 2010, outlines McCain’s intention to refurbish 611 spaces in USD’s Mission Parking Structure with McCain’s Parking Guidance System, which accurately monitors individual parking space occupancy and communicates availability to motorists, guiding drivers to open spaces by means of electronic guidance signs that indicate exact availability by level and row, and LED indicator lights in each parking bay. SKIDATA will deploy a parking management solution for the third busiest airport in the world, the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport. The contract provides for a turnkey solution for parking access management at the airport, including hardware, software and tools for administration. Implementation is scheduled for completion in 2013. DFW’s current parking control system will be replaced by a SKIDATA solution to manage more than 40,000 parking spaces for air travelers and airport employees. SKIDATA was awarded the contract with the DFW Airport Board based on its experience in centrally-managed large-scale PARCS (Parking Access and Revenue Control Systems). TagMaster has been selected by BTVE in China to provide RFID systems for automating the identification of high-speed trains in maintenance workshops across China. BTVE has ordered the first 150 RFID readers and more than 300 readers will be needed for the initial installation program. The first maintenance workshop is currently being installed and the remaining locations are expected to be completed during 2010. The newly built workshops are maintaining a fleet of high-speed electric multiple unit passenger trains and the RFID system enables the automatic identification of each unit within the workshop area. With structural engineering from WALTER P MOORE, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Leawood, Kansas, has won the “New Buildings Under $30 Million“ project category in the 2010 Structural Engineers Association of Kansas & Missouri (SEAKM) Awards Program. The Program is sponsored by SEAKM to recognize creative achievement and innovation in structural engineering. The construction of the 24,500 square foot sanctuary resulted in an iconic building that will serve the parish well for generations to come. Through structural engineering creativity, the project team

successfully met numerous challenges, including appropriately balancing 500-year old architectural aesthetics with modern, cost-effective building systems.

SKIDATA, Inc. is expanding its Service Department with the addition of David Garner as a senior service engineer. Educated in the Navy’s Electricity and Electronics Division, Dave has earned the Washington State EL06 Limited Energy Electrician’s license. His field support experience includes 11 years with Protection Technologies (PTI), ranging from installing and servicing CCTV, access control, security, and parking and revenue control equipment. Primarily, his focus was with parking equipment installations for Federal APD and SKIDATA products. Some of the projects which he was responsible for are the Spokane International Airport, Pike Place Market, and recently some troubleshooting at the Edmonton International Airport. Paul Kero has been named vice president of Spancrete Machinery, where he will oversee business operations for Spancrete Machinery Corporation. Previously, Kero served in senior management roles for companies such as The Cherry Corporation, Beltone Electronics Corp., Motorola Cellular, Northern Telecom and Illinois Tube Company. He earned a master’s degree from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management from Northwestern University, as well as an industrial engineering degree from University of Illinois-Chicago. Bill Wendt has been named director of Logistics, Transportation and Parking at the University of Connecticut. Wendt previous served as the director of Transportation and Mail Service at Cornell University.
