Daniel, recently married, is stationed with a carrier out of Norfolk and is due back from his 3rd deployment in the Persian Gulf in June. Deborah is a physician assistant in Frederick and she and Dave will celebrate their 25th anniversary and her 50th birthday on a Mediterranean cruise this fall. Valerie Bellamy Ausherman (valaush@aol.com) is the technical supervisor of the Staff Desktop Support Branch for Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore. She and Donald have one son, who will be headed off to Hood next year for social work. Sue Campbell Brzezanski (vidasue@verizon.net) wrote that Alexa enjoyed her freshman year at Frostburg Univ. and Marion graduated from Catholic Univ. with a degree in music. Valerie Cerrone Nelson (vcn10@aol.com) visited Melissa Warner Stump (melissawarner@farleycenter. com) and her family in Lanexa, Va., last summer, and with Cathyann McCann Ray (cray@ luxhome.com) in the fall for a girl’s weekend in N.H. Daughter Alexandra is at Emerson in Boston, and spent a semester abroad in the Netherlands. Ryan is a freshman in high school. Valerie enjoys daily yoga practice these days. Susan Patton Fox (Susanfoxlaw@ aol.com) and Bob have settled in South Riding, Va., after years in Conn. Ashley, 23, works in Fairfax, Va.; Bobby, 19, is a freshman at Sonoma State Univ. on a golf scholarship; Katharine, 18, will begin nursing school in the fall; and Maryjacqueline, 14 is a freshman. For her 50th Susan and Bob went on a two-week trip to the Holy Land with her parents. She sees Anne Reynolds Gurney somewhat regularly now that they’re both in Va. Karen Giuffre Reynolds (kgiuffre@optonline.net) writes that their eldest, Daniel, 22, is exploring a law enforcement career while Clayton and Emilygrace, both 12, are very active kids. Peter will be in the 9th grade and husband Peter works for Comcast and has a local radio program entitled “Forward into the Past.” Paula Moran (paula@summithistory. org) wrote that Collin, 21, is a recent graduate from Coast Guard Basic Training, now stationed in Petaluma, Calif., for six months of electronics training. Chelsea, 18, is off to the Univ. of Akron in the fall. Paula is education director at their county historical society in Ohio. She volunteers in animal welfare—she and Hank have 15 rescued animals themselves. They plan a trip to San Francisco to see Collin. Elaine Overtoom Chapa (EChapa@usg.com), lives in Chicago and has worked for USG Corporation for 23 years, recently moving from marketing to sales operations. Kayla is in high school and Patrick is in middle school. Elaine and Jim work on many home improvement projects and she will celebrate her 50th swimming in the annual Chicago “Big Shoulders” open water swim in Lake Michigan. Caroline Razee Barnett (kbarnet2@knology.net) and Kevin live in Dunedin, Fla., with Amy, 8. Caroline works for Nationwide Insurance Company as a claims litigation specialist and is active in her church, where she recently discovered that a woman she’d known for years was also a Hood graduate from the late 50s, both having sung the Messiah! She gives a shout out to her pals Elaine Overtoom Chapa, Hazel Spangler Burke, Robin Smith Stein ’79 and Lisa Meszaros Kriss M.A. ’83. She misses other Hood friends, Sally, Gail and Tonya and wants to get in touch. Jennifer Reinbrecht (jennreinbrecht@yahoo.com) reflected on what she is grateful for as she celebrates her 50th birthday with family and friends. A summer of backpacking from Vancouver, B.C., to the Pacific Crest Trail to Glacier National Park led her west after graduation, where she landed in Denver, Colo. in 1984. After exploring other occupations, she returned to massage therapy (www.associatedmassagetherapists.com). She celebrated her 25th anniversary with Brian last year. They met while she was wandering through South Dakota on her way west. Betsy Grasso Sahagun (BETSY.SAHAGUN@Longandfoster.com) is a realtor in Tyson’s Central office. She and Bob live in Great Falls, Va. with Ally, 14 and Jessica, 22, also lives close by. She would love to assist Hood students and alumni with any real estate needs in the area. Deb Winther Ferrill (debandmike@pacific.net.sg) is in Singapore and works in an international IB PYP school as curriculum coordinator. Except for graduate school and the year following Hood, she’s been working overseas in Honduras, Japan, Switzerland and England and would love to hear from anyone headed to S.E. Asia. Pam Pennebaker Zimmerman (pamzimmrrt@ yahoo.com) writes that Kelly just finished her second year at Hood. Pam is still at Johns Hopkins and loves it. She is a CPR instructor trainer and finds it very rewarding. As for me, I will celebrate my 50th with my family at the Outer Banks and then Ellen Aries Mulhern, Jak Killeffer Cruthers, Linda Curry Heartfield, Kim Taylor Roman and I will get together in the fall for a group celebration. She and Jim celebrated their 25th anniversary last year by going to Germany. They joined their daughter who had spent the year there on a Congress-Bundestag scholarship. Currently, she is finishing her first year at William and Mary. Their two boys will be finishing college this year, one from Virginia Commonwealth Univ. and the other from Pennsylvania College of Technology. Both boys are engaged with weddings planned for October 2008 and September 2009. Lari George Leiby lives in Hamburg, Pa. After 12 years of being a stay-at-home mom, she has re-entered the work force full time as the accounting and inventory controller for an agricultural research firm in Hamburg. She has been married for 17 years to Mark (better known as Butch) Leiby. Their daughter Elizabeth is 13 years old. They also have a golden retriever named Daisy and a cat named Tinkerbell. Recently, Elizabeth had a dance competition in Harrisburg and Lari was able to spend some time with Cindy Coles Magnuski. Cindy and her husband Don and their two sons live in Mechanicsburg. Cindy is the athletic director for Gold’s Gym. Her two sons, Clayton and Trevor are 15 and 13 respectively. Lari heard from Chris Raab and Leigh Moomaw McBride ’81 at Christmas. Chris and her husband are working in New York and have two beautiful daughters. Leigh and Pat live outside Harrisburg. Cindy sees Pat at the gym a lot and Leigh fairly regularly. Lari also stays in touch with Lynn Marzulli White ’81. Lynn and Bill are enjoying being empty nesters. Lari’s sister, Lisa George Neie ’78 got married in Las Vegas in December. Lisa’s husband is a team roper and they were there for the World Series of Roping and the Nationals. Lari and Butch flew out for the wedding and had a wonderful time. Lisa and Gary bought a ranch in Corrales, N.M. Lisa has retired from the Arizona Department of Transportation and is enjoying working on the ranch. Lari keeps busy with the church choir and Sunday school. She volunteers with the American Cancer Society. She works one night a week at her daughter’s dance studio (doing desk work) and works part-time for a local accountant. Her daughter Elizabeth sings in a number of different choirs and has taken dance for 9 years now. Her Polynesian Dance team competes and performs quite a bit —which keeps us busy!
