We’ve even been able to connect a few old friends via this column over the last year. My job is done! In any case I will continue to follow up with you in 2009. Please feel free to e-mail me anytime. Minny Byrd Frank is looking to reconnect with her fellow Hoodlums. Her e-mail is minfrank@aol.com and her MySpace page is www.myspace.com/cabominny for any MySpacers out there. For those on Facebook, search “Minny Frank.” She is excited that she caught up with Angela Franco who is married with two children and coming back to the U.S. from Italy soon. She is the proud mom of four children—Noah 2½, Ava, 17 months, Andrue, 13, and Skylar, 9. Minny is on sabbatical at the beach in Virginia writing a memoir but plans on moving back to Frederick in the summer. Margaret “Meg” Lee has a new job! She is now assistant principal at Thurmont Middle School. She went to work for Frederick County Public Schools after graduation and has enjoyed several positions and many wonderful opportunities with FCPS in the years since! Rachael Miskill M.S. ’06 is still teaching science and loving it! Watching young people learn and grow is a great joy. In 2006 she finished her biomedical science degree and graduated (again!) from Hood College with the very last of the “nuns.” Karen Snyder Sechler ’97 attended, and Melinda Obitts ’97, M.S. ’06 received her master’s that day as well. Rachael stayed with Karen that weekend and it sounds like it was an amazing weekend. Kelly Huegel recently accepted a new job as associate director of internal communications for KPMG’s mid-Atlantic area. Dorothy Ayres Van Steinburg has achieved the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) designation granted through the American Society of Training & Development, indicating that she has met competency and skill requirements (in nine specific competency areas) for Workplace Learning Professionals. Two additions to the family in May 2008—she adopted Calliope, an 8-year-old Calico, and Satchel, a tiger striped Abyssinian. As for me (Jewel Smith), October was fun—went to see the New Kids on the Block (yes, I did!) with Emma Frederick King ’95 and Jacki Resop Amato ’95. It was way better than Hammerjacks. And I finished my M.B.A. program at Marymount Univ. in Arlington, Va., in December and decided that I’d just stay and get a project management certificate while I’m at it. Because once I stop, I am not going back! Thanks for the updates. Keep them coming! And that’s the news for now.
