SEGD_Design - (Page 19) no. 23 Short List The Metaphor is the Message It’s a digital world we live in, and the donor recognition wall at Newhouse III, the latest addition to Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, acknowledges the electronic evolution of journalism in particular. Donor walls are an expected element that can seem mundane, but Poulin + Morris (New York) created delight by employing metaphor, medium, and technology in an unexpected way. The 47- by 7-ft. donor wall consists of more than 100 horizontal LED strips, staggering donor names and personal messages in a kinetic display that evokes news zippers and looks like in-the-moment abstract art.
