Indianapolis Public Parking System request for Qualifications
Mayor Greg Ballard issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) on Feb. 10 for a long-term concession arrangement and management contract for the city’s public parking system. On Mar. 15, the City received 16 responses to the RFQ, and after reviewing the proposals, eight companies were short listed. Central Parking, chosen as a short list bidder, opted to team up with Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Co. and Duncan Parking, resulting in seven bids selected to make their presentations to the team in May. The bidders include: ACS, Denison Global Parking, Evens Time and Sease Gerig & Associates; Gates Group, Serco and Imperial Parking; Cintra; Central Parking System; Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Co. and Duncan Parking; ; P4 Partners, Aurora Capital Group and LAZ Parking; and Standard Parking Corporation. The City plan envisions easier parking with increased customer satisfaction by combining operation of government parking assets, such as parking lots, metered spaces and garages, under one management company. The city currently oversees more than 15,000 parking spaces and hopes this effort will incorporate other governmental entities’ parking lots throughout the area.

Add Water Systems to U.S. Infrastructure Challenges, Says Infrastructure 2010: An Investment Imperative
More and more urban areas throughout the United States—in both dry and rainy locales—are facing growing pressures on their water infrastructure systems, necessitating both greater investments for overhaul and a change in development patterns that are more conducive to conservation, according to Infrastructure 2010: An Investment Imperative, a new publication by the Urban Land Institute and Ernst & Young.
