Help draw attention to a critical practice issue by submitting a policy resolution to be considered by the ASHP House of Delegates. Here’s how: BRUSH UP. Familiarize yourself with current ASHP professional policies. Resolutions should address important issues that are not already covered by existing policy. For an overview of current policy positions, visit the Practice and Policy section of www.ashp.org. PICK A PARTNER. Resolutions must be signed by two or more active ASHP members. Collaborate with a colleague to clearly communicate the scope of the problem and identify a suggested outcome. If you have questions about the submission process or how to format your resolution, contact ASHP at devp@ashp.org. Officers in your state society can also be helpful, so keep them in the loop about your proposed resolution. PLAN AHEAD. Submissions must be received 90 days before the House of Delegates session, which is held in conjunction with the ASHP Summer Meeting. The submission deadline for new resolutions is March 8, 2010. More than 20,000 pharmacists, technicians, and industry representatives attended the 44th ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in Las Vegas, Dec. 6-10. The meeting offered a host of educational and poster sessions and an Opening General Session featuring actor Dennis Quaid, who shared the story of how a medication error affected his family. pages 6+7 INTERSECTIONS winter 2010
