SIA/MCC to write letter to main committee, including support from states, organizations and counties, in favor of A92.10 as drafted • EN1495 (European standard) being worked on to be equivalent to A92.10 • Update on IPAF from Kevin O’Shea, recently appointed chairman of IPAF’s International MCWP committee. He will present a summary of the IPAF training programs at next Committee Week • Presentation by Mohammad Ayub, Director Office of Engineering Services, Director of Construction for OSHA on MCWP accident investigations. The theme throughout was “users need more and better training” • Various IPAF/MCWP forms were reviewed for possible adoption by SIA • $5,000 allocated from SIAEF to be spent on Site Safety Guide for MCWP’s www.scaffold.org • Plan for San Francisco convention is presentation on procedures for tie-off Plank & Platform - Colby Hubler • 90 attendees • Presentation by Steve Zolkowski from Engineered Wood Association on third party inspection agencies • Reviewed imported LVL plank that does not meet industry standards • Purchasing Guidelines returned from Oversight with minor changes. Will be amended and then published • Metal Plank Handbook to be revised to include composite decks Supported - Dave Glabe • 88 attendees • Presentation by Buck Gladden on Scaffold Tags • Presentation by Arthur McAra on temporary roof systems • Project completed and ready for purchase: CD-ROM; Bloopers 2008 • Projects at Oversight: Hazard Awareness; Scaffold Jeopardy; Ladder and Access Safety • Projects in process: Scaffold Component Inspection. Final version to be presented at Committee Week, then to Oversight • Projects to be started: Sidewalk Protection; Shoring Safe Practices; Rescue Plan for Supported Scaffolds; Working at Extreme Temperatures; DVD on Scaffold Tags Suspended - Cliff Theve • 91 attendees were shown the new Suspended DVD and orders were taken. DVD being marketed to IWCA and within SIA magazine • Next project is translation of this DVD into Spanish • Presentation by Captain Joe Herbert, Denver Heavy Rescue; suspended scaffold beating up a building, led to discussion on rescue techniques • New project DVD on rigging devices. Work groups need photos, video etc. Oversight - Dale Lindemer • Council to be renamed Review Council • Purchasing checklist for Plank & Platform Council returned with minor changes • Projects from Supported Scaffold Council to be reviewed Past Presidents - Howard Schapira • Committee is ready to initiate a new past president • Will develop a questionnaire and program outline for a speakers’ bureau for the new Leadership Academy.
