Best Advice in 7 Words or Less: A useless life is an early death.
Why Him? A seasoned negotiator, Goodwyn has spearheaded record-breaking distribution
growth for every one of Discovery's domestic channels during his quarter century with the
company. On top of huge strides for the flagship network, TLC and Animal Planet, Goodwyn
last year helped Investigation Discovery become the fastest-growing network in the U.S.
for the third consecutive year, now in 80 million homes. He also fostered emerging network
platforms for OWN, Military Channel, Destination America, Hub Network and Science
Channel, the latter two of which were among the fastest-growing networks in the industry
in 2012. As if that's not enough, Goodwyn's Education division has a full course load in
the coming year. After launching the Discovery Education Techbook-the first fully digital
textbook approved for K-12 Classrooms-he jumped right into key expansions in both high
school and middle school curricula, and the launch of Discovery Education Higher Ed to
community colleges across the country. The service is currently launching with 23 courses
across eight disciplines for this academic year. We think Goodwyn already earned an A.
The one thing I'd do differently if I could go back to high school: Make the
basketball team and get a date for the prom.
On a Saturday afternoon, you can find me... watching my son play lacrosse or
basketball.
This is the hobby I've been itching to try, but haven't found time: Downtime

Why Them? Rising like the cream in one of Giada's
tasty desserts, Lansing and Lowe have driven SNI to
both ratings and revenue records, organizing networks
including HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel and
DIY Network into Home, Food, Travel & Entertainment
categories. And they know how to capitalize on the
brands, with the company's first $1 billion Upfront in
2012. Lansing this year repositioned Great American
Country from a music to a lifestyle network complete with
the new " Living Country " tag line and hit series " Farm
Kings " and " Kimberly's Simply Southern. " Lowe continues
to expand the Scripps stable, adding new acquisitions
Travel Channel International and Asian Food Channel to
recent integrations Travel Channel and Cooking Channel.
Look for this duo to continue pushing the interactive
envelope both on and outside of the small screen.
