Described as a beacon for diverse
employees, Scott was knocking
down doors for future leaders long
before DEI became a priority for many companies. With his
self-confidence and dedication, he's helped marginalized people
become successful not only at Disney, but also in the industry as
a whole. Scott, a proud alum of the NAMIC Executive Leadership
Development Program at UCLA, has paved the way for others to
follow his lead by launching the " Belong Sponsorship Program. "
The year-long initiative aims to develop underrepresented talent
within Disney Ad Sales by pairing them with an executive to offer
professional mentorship and advocacy. Through the program,
Scott and his team made 45 matches. And he's humble, to boot.
" I have the good fortune of 'being in the room where it happens,'
and I have used my station and my voice to advocate for equity
in recruitment, hiring, retention and promotion, " Scott says.
Elisa Segovia

Univision Communications
Segovia's programming savvy resulted
in Univision's enviable position as one
of 2020's top TV networks in the 18-24 demographic-broadcast
or cable, English- or Spanish-language. It also led to her
recent promotion to SVP. Her success stems from prioritizing
diverse content that is inclusive of the broader Latinx experience,
including LGBTQ+ storylines like the one in Univision's
Brazilian series, " Dulce Ambicion. " " It's more important than
ever for broadcasters to listen to their audiences and reflect the
true diversity found within those groups, " she says. " The past
year showed me that our audience is craving content that showcases
the diversity within the Hispanic community here in the
United States, and broadcasters must meet that need head-on. "
As a founding member of Univision's employee resource group
eMERGE, Segovia advocates for young professionals in the
company, but she also supports external leadership programs
like WICT's Betsy Magness Leadership Institute.
MyKhanh Shelton

Since joining WarnerMedia in February
of 2020, Shelton has designed
and implemented programs focused on advancing those from
marginalized communities. One such example is Path to Equity, a
three-part intensive in which participants explore how to apply a
racial equity lens in their daily lives to identify barriers. Shelton is
also proud that WarnerMedia has 12 Business Resource Groups
with 48+ chapters, including more than 7,000 global members.
One initiative that exemplifies the impact of BRGs is the Inclusive
Conversations about #StopAsianHate, which Shelton says was
designed to " provide a safe and supportive space for colleagues
to have open conversations about anti-Asian violence, to reflect
on the root cause and how to address it, practice self-care and
continue to listen and learn from each other. " She adds, " At WarnerMedia,
we're naming the discomfort and leaning into it so that
we don't let the crises that so many have endured go to waste. "
Ana Salas Siegel

Enterprises
Not only does Siegel keep pace with
constantly changing legal and business
issues-domestic and international-related to Telemundo's
productions, she's also on top of technological advances as
she structures deals that keep Telemundo's content on multiple
platforms around the globe while also protecting publishing
rights. Siegel's skill at leading her team through difficult
landscapes proved helpful in developing to COVID-19 protocols
that made Telemundo Global Studios among the first companies
to resume production during the pandemic. An avid mentor for
women and minorities, Siegel is an executive champion for
the company-wide Mujeres Imparables (Unstoppable Women)
initiative, which promotes diversity and inclusion with a focus on
the power of storytelling, especially by women and in support of
women and minority groups. No matter who you may be dealing
with, she advises, " be authentic in the content of your message,
but gracious in the delivery of it. "
