Bastian and Knittle are always one step ahead of the curve. As the head of SCTE's celebrated Standards program,
Bastian led the creation of 3GHz taps and passive standards, opening the door for quick deployments of
additional spectrum to support 10G. He also recently confirmed a patent for a system offering real-time feedback
to students through the use of proactive network maintenance tools. CableLabs' Knittle has continued to explore
what's possible with DOCSIS 3.1 while preparing for the rollout of DOCSIS 4.0. A definition for migrations to
high-split architectures was created to help operators increase upstream bandwidth requirements and trials are
underway on tools that can keep providers informed on the efficiency of their access networks.
