There are few who know Cox better than Langner, someone who has dedicated
herself to growing with the Atlanta-based provider for the better part of
three decades. That's what made her the perfect successor to the company's
President Mark Greatrex, and she now holds the reins of the company's field
operations function as well as vendor management, government and public
affairs, and HR. She has her finger on the pulse when it comes to market
conditions and customer expectations, and she pushes her teams to balance
flexibility with their drive to beat competition in the company's footprint.
Q&A
What does the metaverse mean to you? A whole new world of
entertainment and opportunities. It's the merger of real life
with a virtual life. Having enhanced experiences like going
to a concert, conference or ball game virtually.
What's your Wordle strategy? Same start word each day, and
I'm not sharing what it is!
Boredom buster? Take the dog for a nice, long walk.
Band I'd go see live: Rolling Stones-just saw them and they still have it!
What childhood memento have you kept? My Sony Dream Machine AM/FM clock
radio. It's been waking me up for a very, very long time; it's vintage.
Favorite dish that I can also make myself: Love Italian food and I can make a
mean lasagna, my mother's recipe and she isn't even Italian.
What household chore could you win a gold medal in? Vacuuming... It's a whole
strategy. I must go in different directions on carpets first and then leave a
straight line.
If I had a time machine, I would ... Go back and watch my grandmother make
her Irish Soda Bread. She immigrated to the USA from Northern Ireland in the
1920s and was a fantastic baker. I have the recipe, but it's still not the same.
The ability to watch her and chat with her again would be amazing. She lived
to the age of 95 and was a true matriarch of our family. ■

BET
In late November, Mills was boosted from president
to CEO, no doubt in recognition of the way
he transformed BET from a cable network into a
multiplatform media company. In recent years he's
helped launch the BET+ subscription streaming
service and turned BET Studios into an innovative
haven for Black content creators, including industry
stalwarts like Tyler Perry, Lena Waithe, Kenya Barris
and Lee Daniels. BET's " Content for Change " initiative-which
uses data to combat bias and effect
societal change-has since been adopted throughout
the Paramount organization. Mills has said BET
generated nearly 100% revenue growth in 2021
from BET+, and 50% subscriber growth during the
same period. Look for him to continue evolving the
streamer, which he's eyeing for double-digit growth
this year. ■
