Spencer is a builder of successful telecom companies, with a track record that includes
Rural Broadband Investments' acquisition of NewWave Communications. These days, he's
partnered with Chicago-based private equity fund GTCR to form Mega Broadband, which
operates Vyve Broadband, Northland Communications and Eagle Broadband. As usual,
he's always looking for that next deal. He clinched a big one in 2020 when Cable One
bought a 45% minority stake in Mega Broadband with the right to buy the remaining interest
in the firm beginning in 2023. Vyve continues to impress, starting off 2022 with the
expansion of its Fiber Business Services offering to 25 new markets, including Oakhurst,
Calif., and Brevard, N.C.

Has the telco rollout of 5G wireless in North America impacted your business? Not substantially, but we are starting to
see some fixed wireless offerings in some of our markets and we now recognize them as a potential competitor
for customers that don't demand robust broadband connections.
What household chore could you win a gold medal in? I had three brothers, but my mom taught us early on to keep a
clean house. I keep a spotless kitchen and can't go to bed after dinner until it's bleach clean! ■
