THE WHY? In 2021, Gillespie and her team created Amazon's Inclusion Policy
& Playbook, designed to disrupt biases that can happen throughout the
lifecycle of any movie or series. All Amazon Originals have since been working
to meet the aspirational goals found within the playbook. She also created
Howard Entertainment Program, a revolutionary partnership between a studio
and an Historically Black College and University that's intended to accelerate
the diversification of the entertainment industry.
SHE SAYS... " DEI leaders should be given headcount and budget commiserate
with the goals they are trying to accomplish, and their work should be
treated as integral to business function, not an ancillary service. "

aide for the New York State
Office for People with Developmental

organization's board. He continues to
champion DEI throughout the industry
and at the workplace, where he mentors
junior staff, interns and new hires.
