Best Advice: Don't get too excited
about the wins or too upset about
the losses; they all even out.
Why them? The Hispanic television
market is booming, and under the calculated
watch of Conde and O'Connor,
Univision continues to be the Goliath
all others want to topple. The company
celebrates its 50th anniversary this
year with big headlines-the launch
of a news network in tandem with
ABC that seeks to capitalize on Univision's
English-language audience,
its fastest-growing viewer segment.
Conde and O'Connor also help drive
growth for an array of niche networks,
including successful channels focused
on sports and telenovelas and the
company's new digital network, which
bowed in late October. Brand extension
is also booming, with a spate of
new deals in 2012.
