Dwayne Benefi eld
VP/HEAD, PLAYSTATION VUE
SONY NETWORK ENTERTAINMENT
INTERNATIONAL
Benefi eld oversees Sony's cloud-based
TV service, launched in late 2015,
including strategy, programming/content
Mary Campbell
EVP, COMMERCE PLATFORMS
QVC
Campbell has the unique challenge of
ensuring that the very personal and
human touch her viewers enjoy on the
large screen is translated to smaller
acquisition, service operations and product management.
" My biggest priority in 2017 will be maintaining our best
in class standards for PlayStation Vue, during this period
of rapid subscriber growth while expanding our live local
broadcast offering and new features across all platforms, "
he says. Vue reached deals to carry all four major
broadcasters in their respective O&O markets, and it has
attracted a fan base much broader than the core gamers,
including a large family and kids following.
Eric Berger
EVP, DIGITAL NETWORKS;
GM, CRACKLE
SONY PICTURES TELEVISION
Berger wrapped 2016 on a high note,
with Crackle landing its fi rst Emmy
nomination in a major category for Jerry
Seinfeld's " Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. " And he
shows no signs of taking his foot off the accelerator,
driving go-to original content on the streaming network.
Crackle's also pulling some different marketing tricks out
of its hat. When it unleashed its second premium drama,
" StartUp, " it offered an early rollout on Reddit, Playstation
and Amazon Fire TV in a bid to lasso millennials.
Licensed movies and anime will continue to be part of
the mix under Berger's watch, as he balances short- and
long-form content to keep driving up audience numbers.
Himesh Bhise
CEO
SYNACOR
Bhise can often be heard reminding us
that " TV has outgrown the TV set, " a
refrain intended to clarify that subscribers
want to watch more TV on whatever
device they have at any moment. He has his eye on that
changing connection between subscribers and content,
which is " morphing into apps across a variety of OS and
hardware platforms, and surrounded by an increasing
number of high quality content choices outside of the
traditional PayTV ecosystem. " Such insights have made
him a familiar face on the press scene. Well deserved, it
would seem, since he recently helped secure the contract
to develop and manage desktop and mobile portal
services for AT&T.

devices. In fact, QVC was an early adopter of giving
viewers a small-screen experience to enhance bigscreen
programming, and this forward vision led to the
recently launched Beauty IQ, a network which embraces
live simulcast across multiple platforms. Campbell
says she has found that " mobile provides a complementary
second screen experience to our broadcast,
and our most engaged customers are interacting with
QVC across multiple platforms (desktop, mobile, web,
iPad app), sometimes within a single day. "
Albert Cheng
COO
AMAZON STUDIOS
Amazon Studios this year ticked off
another fi rst-time accomplishment.
The studio collected seven Academy
Award nominations, including a best
picture nod for " Manchester by the Sea, " rendering it
the fi rst streaming service to get an Oscar nod. While
that fi lm was distributed theatrically, Cheng oversees
Amazon Studios' business operations and software
development, and in the past year made big strides
in maximizing reach among Amazon's considerable
customer base, helping broaden its original programming
strategy, and using the breadth of analytics the
company collects from users to inform programming
decisions.
Tom Christie
COO
SHOWTIME NETWORKS
The longtime Showtime exec has
been in his new post for a year, serving
as the face of the network to all
distribution and streaming partners
as he seeks out opportunities to expand the service
with additional partners and platforms. He tells us that
at Showtime screen size does matter. " The bigger the
screen, the greater the viewership, the more satisfying
experience it is for the Showtime subscriber, " he notes.
" But we are well aware that different screens deliver on
different needs, and that's why we make a point to be
on every device possible. "
