Cablefax The Magazine - May 2015 - 28

1. A BRIGHT FUTURE
Kevin Casey
Title: President, Comcast Cable,
Northeast Division
Years in Cable: 25+
Education: BS, Electronic Technology,
Hesser College
Bill Connors
Title: President, Comcast Cable,
Central Division
Years in Cable: 30+
Education: University of Florida, BCN
Steve White
Title: President, Comcast Cable,
West Division
Years in Cable: 19+
Education: BA, Indiana University,
Bloomington
Casey, Connors and White continue to lead all Comcast
Cable operations in 39 states and the District of
Columbia. In 2014, they executed extremely well. The
year saw the company's best third quarter for video
results in seven years. As they continue into 2015,
these three will keep striving to deliver more of
what customers want through Comcast's advanced
broadband network, and will remain focused on
improving customers' experiences. Watch for more
HD, more VOD and more multicultural programming,
along with faster Internet speeds, more advanced
services across the board and continued growth in
business services.
2. JUST SAY " YES! "
Tracy Dolgin
Title: President & CEO, YES Network
Years in Cable: 22
Education: Stanford University,
Graduate School of Business
Dolgin presided over an impressive year at YES in 2014.
The network once again was the most-watched regional
sports network in the country for the eleventh time in 12
years. On the digital front, the company saw an amazing
208 percent year-over-year increase in video views across
its various digital platforms. This year, Dolgin's been
putting his best foot forward by overseeing YES' first foray
into soccer. Based on his track record, we expect a win.
I watch most programming on this device:
Big-Screen LED TV
What's the next big broadband project no one's
talking about yet and why? Authentication that is
authentic to the individual.
Apple iWatch or Rolex? Apple iWatch
If Disney hired me to reboot " Star Wars " I would...
cast characters who are relevant to 12-25 year olds.
The technology that will most benefit cable over the
next year is: Voice recognition
Favorite vacation spot: Barcelona

3. IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN
PHILADELPHIA
LeAnn Talbot
Title: SVP, Comcast
Freedom Region
Years in Cable: 12
Education: University of
Minnesota (1979, BA,
Journalism), University of Wyoming (1982, MBA),
Stanford Executive Education program (1998)
Best Advice in 7 Words Or Less:
A leader never has a bad day.
Last year marked Talbot's third at the helm of one of
Comcast's largest regions. She's responsible for all operations
and customer interactions for greater Philadelphia,
New Jersey and northern Delaware. With 6,000-plus
employees under her watch, it's good that Talbot's greatest
strength is her ability to motivate and inspire while still
holding her team accountable for success.
4. AMAZING AMY
Amy Smith
Title: Regional SVP, Florida Region,
Comcast Cable
Years in Cable: 20
Education: Washington and Lee
University
Best Advice in 7 Words or Less:
Always have a sense of urgency.
The Florida Region is at the forefront of Comcast's efforts
to bring fiber-optic cable all the way to customers'
homes, and Smith is at the forefront of the charge. The
implementation protocol developed in Florida last year is
expected to become the model for future Comcast FTTP
deployments throughout the country. Also in 2014, Smith
oversaw the opening of five Xfinity stores in the Florida
region. Perhaps one reason she's able to maneuver so
well in the ever-changing world of cable is that away
from work Smith is an accomplished equestrienne and
competes in events along the East Coast.
If I had a show on YouTube it would be called...
" Animal House " - It would chronicle the antics of my two
dogs, two cats and four horses.
Favorite screen: My iPad
If Disney hired me to reboot " Star Wars " I would...
have Chewbacca pull Kanye West off the stage.
Which character would I most want to double-cross
me on " Game of Thrones " and why? Daenerys
Targaryen-Who doesn't love a woman with Dragons!
Favorite vacation spot: France
5. FIELD OF
DREAMS
Steve Raab
Title: President, SNY
Years in Cable: 16
Education: BA, Brown
University;
MBA, Harvard Business
School
May 2015
Best Advice in 7 Words or Less: Plan the work, and
work the plan.
Raab is a New York Mets fan's greatest ally. During the
last year, he invested more in the network's core product,
satisfying the insatiable fan base while creating more
recent opportunities with the addition of Mets+, SNY's
first ever set of LIVE limited commercial broadcasts. As a
result, viewers get the equivalent of a grand slam, including
more exclusively sponsored Mets content and behind
the scenes footage in place of commercials.
I watch most programming on this device: It's still
the large flat-screen TV at home for long-form programming
(but the iPhone for short-form content).
Favorite screen: The one I rarely get to enjoy: The Big
Screen at the Jacob Burns Film Center. The best place to
watch interesting films.
The day we get multiplatform measurement is...
the day I'll wonder about its accuracy, and then I'll keep
wondering why they haven't found a way to include bars,
restaurants, and other public places that show a lot of live
sports.
Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat? Twitter
Desert island album: Springsteen's Born to Run
Favorite TV show as a kid: " Hogan's Heroes. " Who
would ever greenlight a comedy now that is set in a German
POW camp? But somehow it worked back then.
The last time I had a good laugh was... when my
7-year-old son botched a joke with " other than that Mrs.
Washington, how did you like the movie? "
6. COME TOGETHER
Thomas Coughlin
Title: SVP, Beltway Region,
Comcast Cable
Years in Cable: 29
Education: Undergraduate,
Columbia College;
Certificate in Management, University
of Michigan
Best Advice in 7 Words or Less: It really, really is all
about people.
In 2014, Coughlin focused on a fostering a strong employee
culture to create an excellent customer experience.
Also, during the last 12 months, he oversaw the launch of
X1 DVR with cloud technology and live in-home streaming
to X1 customers. He also propelled Beyond School Walls,
a workplace mentoring partnership with Big Brothers Big
Sisters that helps at-risk youth reach their fullest potential
through one-to-one matches with Comcast employees.
7. TRUE WEST
Ted Griggs
Title: President & GM, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area and
Comcast SportsNet California
Years in Cable: 17
Education: BA, Broadcast Communication Arts,
San Francisco State University
Best Advice in 7 Words or Less: This is a get to do job,
not a got to do job. (Shoot, that's 13 words). Okay, Sports
is a get to do job.
